OPEN BORDERS: We enter Bulgaria from Romania freely

27/05/2021

The health minister has issued three new orders. The health ministry has opened the border to Romanian tourists. From today - May 27, Romanian citizens can now enter our country freely without presenting a vaccination document, a COVID or a negative PCR test.

The initial date for this decision was June 1, but it was later corrected by the health department. However, the order provoked a sharp comment from the former Minister of Health. The reason is that this actually opens the borders for Romanian tourists without restrictions, but for Bulgarian citizens arriving from Romania, there remains a commitment to provide a document.

In the late hours of the day, this was corrected and now Bulgarians coming from Romania will enter without a document for a vaccine, a negative test or a virus.

The same order temporarily bans the entry into our country of persons arriving from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Maldives, Brazil and countries and territories in Africa. Exceptions are the persons who are Bulgarian citizens and the persons with the status of permanent, long-term or long-term residence on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria and the members of their families. Bulgarian citizens and persons with the status of permanent, long-term or long-term residence in Bulgaria and members of their families arriving from these places are placed under a 10-day quarantine. The order specifies countries and territories that do not fall within the scope of the ban on entry into our country.

With two other orders, the Minister of Health extended the temporary anti-epidemic measures introduced in the country until July 31.
