The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey on a visit to Vidin

Her Excellency Eileen Sekizkök's visit to our city is after an invitation from the Mayor of the Municipality Dr. Tsvetan Tsenkov and in connection with the iftar dinner organized by the Regional Mufti's Office - Montana on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan for Muslims.

Her Excellency and the delegation from the Turkish Embassy were welcomed by the Deputy Mayor of Vidin Municipality Borislava Borisova. "I am glad that you responded to the invitation and chose this good holiday for your people to visit Vidin. The desire of our mayor is to show you the sights of our old capital city, which is proud of its ancient history and rich cultural heritage. I am convinced that this visit will lay the foundations for a long-term cooperation and friendship, "Borissova said.

The program included a sightseeing tour of the city, organized with the assistance of the Regional History Museum, and the guide was the historian Kalin Videnov. The starting point was Istanbul Gate, after which guests had the opportunity to see part of the "Kaleto" district, to see the metropolitan complex and mausoleum of Exarch Antim I, the mosque of Osman Pazvantoglu, the former Turkish post office, the Synagogue, to walk in the Danube Park and visit the medieval fortress of Baba Vida.

During the tour, attention was drawn to the fact that both in the past and today, in Vidin coexist in harmony people who profess different religions. That is why the place where the Orthodox churches, the mosque and the former Jewish temple are located in the immediate vicinity is called the "triangle of tolerance".

Eileen Sekizkök was impressed by what she saw, by the interesting talk about the sights of Vidin and thanked for the wonderful walk.

In a conversation with the ambassador, Borislava Borisova noted that due to its strategic location, cultural and historical heritage and natural resources, our city has the potential to develop. She expressed the expectations of the municipal leadership that with the construction of the new highway to Sofia, Vidin will attract more large investors, the economy will revive, new prospects for development in the field of tourism will open.

The iftar dinner took place in the mosque of Osman Pazvantoglu. The guests were welcomed by the regional mufti Nejati Ali. The celebration was attended by HE Eileen Sekizkök and the delegation from the embassy, ​​the Deputy Mayors of Vidin Municipality Tsvetomira Ilieva, Borislava Borisova and Svetoslav Skorchev, His Eminence Metropolitan Daniel of Vidin, clergy and representatives of various institutions and organizations.

On behalf of the municipal leadership, Borislava Borisova thanked the regional mufti for the kind household. At the beginning of the celebration she presented to Her Excellency a painting depicting the symbol of Vidin - the fortress "Baba Vida". He stressed that both the Turkish and the Bulgarian people respect their religious holidays and traditions. "Let us pass this on to our children and be tolerant of the faith and customs of every nation," she said, wishing health, prosperity and peace throughout the world.
