Successfully completed project "Strengthening tourism entrepreneurship and promoting services - STEPS"

With the one-day meeting held on 14.05.2021 in the meeting hall of the Municipal Council - Vidin and on 20.05.2021 the working meeting ended the activities under the project "Strengthening tourism entrepreneurship and promoting services - STEPS", № CB007.2.13.077, implementing under the Interreg-IPA Cross-border Cooperation Program Bulgaria - Serbia 2014-2020, co-financed by the European Union. The one-day meeting provided an opportunity for young entrepreneurs in the tourism sector to exchange ideas and form partnerships to implement joint initiatives. As a result, a list of potential partners was prepared and uploaded to the project platform and will become the basis for future joint business and partnership initiatives in the field of tourism. The STEPS network was officially established, which includes institutions, organizations and professionals from the cross-border region Bulgaria - Serbia, who will work to promote youth entrepreneurship, as well as young future entrepreneurs in the field of tourism.

With these meetings the last activity of the project was implemented (activity 6 - Event for creating a network of young entrepreneurs in tourism), the achieved results were discussed, as well as issues related to the sustainability of the project after its completion; administrative, technical, organizational and financial issues related to the forthcoming final reporting; as well as issues related to the organization and holding of a final press conference.

After the project activities the expected results were achieved:

- Conducted a study to analyze and identify the offered tourist services and products and the need for improvements in the areas - human resources, marketing and advertising and entrepreneurial initiatives in the whole cross-border area;

- Conducted specialized training for young entrepreneurs in tourism;

- Developed online platform for online consultations and trainings in the field of tourism and mobile application;

- Established network of entrepreneurs in the field of tourism.

 All these results have brought additional benefits by providing key business skills and creating opportunities for self-employment for young people. In the future, local potential will be better used, the migration process will be slowed down and, as a result, sustainable economic development will be achieved on both sides of the border. Last but not least, the results of the project will help increase the opportunities for smart economic growth at the local and cross-border level.
