European funds promote and preserve the maritime and cultural heritage on the territory of the local initiative group "SHABLA-KAVARNA-BALCHIK"

The first information conference on the project "Promotion of the Black Sea Heritage" was held on January 8, 2022 in the building of the newly built Maritime Club "Karia", Shabla. The project is implemented through the Community-Led Local Development Strategy of the Shabla-Kavarna-Balchik Local Fisheries Initiative Group, with the financial support of the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Program 2014-2020, co-financed by the European Union through the European Maritime Fund and Fisheries and the National Budget of the Republic of Bulgaria.

During the conference, stakeholders and participants in the courses were introduced to the objectives of the project, the planned activities and the expected results. The event was also attended by representatives of the performers of the specific trainings, who answered questions from the participants. The planned courses are divided into four areas: training for a 1 * diver or a 2 * diver; vocational training in part of the profession "Industrial Fisheries and Aquaculture Technician", specialty "Industrial Fisheries and Aquaculture"; acquisition of the qualification "Master of a ship up to 40 GT at sea"; course "Lifeguard of swimming pools and water parks" and upgrading course "Lifeguard of open water areas and the sea".

In addition to information materials, the innovatively prepared catalog "Symbols of historical, natural and maritime cultural heritage on the territory of the local initiative fishing group Shabla - Kavarna - Balchik" was presented, which aims to raise awareness of the public, tour operators and tourists about opportunities for cultural and historical tourism in the Northeast Black Sea region.

The project "Promotion of the heritage of the Black Sea" is worth BGN 49,022 and is implemented by a non-governmental organization based in Shabla.
