Romania is closing its borders to foreign nationals

The worldwide spread of coronavirus has imposed new restrictive measures.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs disseminated up-to-date information about Europe and the world to date.

 As of 10 pm on March 22, 2020, the entry into the territory of Romania of foreign citizens and stateless persons is prohibited, except in the cases when the transit is carried out through the transit corridors established for this purpose with the neighboring countries.

Exceptionally, the entry into the territory of Romania is permitted for foreign nationals and stateless persons belonging to the following categories:

• family members of Romanian citizens, as well as family members of citizens of other EU Member States and the European Economic Area or of the Swiss Confederation residing in Romania;

• persons holding a long-stay visa, residence permit or other document equivalent to a residence permit issued by the Romanian authorities under the Government Emergency Ordinance № 194/2002 on the regime of aliens in Romania, or an equivalent document , issued by the authorities of other countries in accordance with EU law;

• persons traveling in the performance of a professional commitment certified by a visa, residence permit or other equivalent document;

• diplomatic or consular agents, personnel of international organizations, military personnel or personnel providing humanitarian assistance;

• passengers in transit, incl. those who have been repatriated as a result of the provision of consular protection, as well as those traveling for compelling reasons (medical or family).

• persons in need of international protection or for other humanitarian reasons.

For people who have no relatives and a place to stay for the duration of quarantine, special centers will be created by the authorities.

As of March 22, public and private beaches, parks, swimming pools, cinemas, theaters and gyms will be closed for a period of two weeks. Restaurants and cafes can work with only 20% of their capacity. Restaurants can fulfill orders for food supplies.

As of March 24, the distribution of all printed newspapers, magazines and advertising materials will be suspended. The distribution of such publications in residential complexes, restaurants, cafes, hotels, sports and health centers, clinics, waiting rooms in public and private institutions is prohibited.
