Tourism is a growing factor in the development of Southeast European countries, including Bulgaria, according to a study by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The Bulgarian economy is among the countries dependent on tourism, with the sector accounting for 7% of GDP, and in some countries in the region it exceeds 10 and even 20% of GDP, with the tendency to increase in recent years. Southeast European countries can expect increasingly strong tourist seasons in the coming years to help the region's economic situation, one of the conclusions of the analysis.
However, according to a recent report by the World Economic Forum on the Tourism Industry of Southeast Europe, there are problems in creating competitiveness. Part of the reason for this is the poorly trained tourism staff to offer up-to-date and highly professional service. In this regard, a Labor Exchange was held in Kavarna with young people and entrepreneurs in tourism.
Kavarna Labor Exchange met young job seekers with entrepreneurs in the tourism industry, according to the Kavarna Municipality, which organizes the event on 28 February.
The Labor Exchange is part of the project "Improving the Conditions for Youth Employment in Tourism", in which the municipality partnered with Ovidius University in Constanta and the Partners 2000 Association in Calarasi, Romania.
The initiative draws on a resource of more than € 340,000 under the Cross-border Cooperation Program "Interreg V-A Romania-Bulgaria 2014-2020". The project has already trained young people free of charge for cooks, waiters, hotel administrators and other specialties for professional tourism.
On the forthcoming exchange, employers can announce jobs for the new tourist season and present development prospects in the sector, according to the municipality.
