In 2022, Romania welcomed the most foreign tourists from Germany, Israel and Italy

According to data from the National Statistical Institute, cited by BTA-Bucharest, the most tourists from Germany (173,500), Israel (150,500) and Italy (122,800 people) visited Romania last year. They showed the greatest interest in Bucharest (1,480,800 people), Constanta (1,253,500 people) and Brasov (2,212,100).

The average length of their stay was 2.1 days. Among foreign tourists, 1.2 percent chose Romania for spa tourism, 4.4 percent - for skiing and mountains, 8.9 percent - for other tourist routes.

Over one million (1,056,000) people were housed in apartments and rooms for rent, an increase of 40 percent compared to 2021.

Romanian tourists abroad in the last month of 2022 were 1,205,400 or 46.5 percent more compared to December 2021. Nearly 70 percent of them preferred a European Union member country for their vacation.
